Description

Flight School is a great book to share with your students to talk about perseverance. It is the story of a persistent penguin who has the soul of an eagle and is determined to fly. This book companion is jam-packed with resources that provide opportunities for your students in grades 2-4 to think critically and creatively, analyze the author's craft, and make connections to self and the real world.

This Flight School Book Companion aims to help students develop advanced readers' skills in analyzing and interpreting literature, and writing. The questions and activities included promote big ideas, themes, and concepts and provide opportunities for students to question the author, analyze the author's and illustrator's craft, and make connections to self and the real world.

Questions can also be used for journaling and require responses beyond the literal meaning or the answers found in the text as they invite analysis of character, events, and interactions; synthesis of ideas, and evaluation of relationships, actions, consequences, and alternatives. Additionally, there are activities to teach language arts skills and vocabulary.
