Five Pillars of Islam Poster and Lesson with Guided Notes + Spanish Translation
- Zip
Description
I have assigned this project to my 7th grade Medieval History classes during our Rise of Islamic Empires unit. Typically this unit is spilt into several parts and this makes up part of the beginning of the unit: Birth of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam make up the key practices and obligations of all Muslims and form the foundation of the religion.
Included:
Editable PowerPoint lesson that covers each of the Five Pillars of Islam in Detail
Editable Guided notes of that lesson for students with IEPS or ELs
An Editable Spanish Translation of that lesson
An Editable Word Document to assign students that contains instructs for creating their Five Pillar of Islam Poster and examples with answers censored.
I personally assigned the poster after teaching the students about pre-Islamic Arabia, the very beginnings of Islam, and the Hajj (migration to Saudi Arabia to see the Kabba in Mecca). But you can structure your class differently if needed. The main thing is that I made sure to cover each of the Pillars thoroughly before assigning the poster.
I provided the students with legal sized, larger, printer paper and art supplies for the poster.
