Description

These “5 Green and Speckled Frogs” adapted readers will engage kindergarten and preschool beginning readers in the reading process and your students will not even realize they are learning. Specially designed for special education students with poor fine motor skills or with little to no verbal skills, these three interactive books are a hands-on way to keep your students engaged and learning. Perfect for use at any time during the year.

All the “Five Green and Speckled Frogs” adapted books include the well-known song I sang as a child.

The color books:

  • Book 1 is a regular book.
  • Book 2 involves moving the correct number to the song.
  • Book 3 involves moving the frogs off of the log according to the song.

The black and white mini books:

  • Book 1 a regular book with a simple story for the children to color. It contains the sentences “5 frogs”, “4 frogs” etc.
  • Book 2 involves putting the correct number on the page, “_____ frogs”.
  • Book 3 involves putting the correct number of frogs on the log.

Here's what you will get:

  • 3 flip book readers in color
  • 3 mini easy readers in black and white
  • 12 flash cards with numerals 1 – 5, number words 1 - 5 and words “frog” and “frogs”
  • Instructions to print and assemble your books
  • Instructions for use with students of varying abilities

Easy to prep! Once you have made and laminated your books, you will have them for years to come. Saving you time and money year over year.

Ways to use these books:

  • During independent reading time for engaging struggling students
  • During literacy centers for word work
  • During math centers for math work
  • Add to your classroom library
  • Send home for homework and home/school connection
  • During large and small group literacy circles
  • Extra practice for struggling readers
  • Assessment for difficult to assess students
  • With students that are autistic or non-verbal

You will love these books because you will be able to use them with all your students, regardless of ability. Non-verbal children or children with complex needs should have the same opportunities to actively engage in the same reading activities as their peers. With some modifications and support, these students can be successful at demonstrating their learning with purpose and understanding. These readers are modified in such a way that any child can use them. Children demonstrate mastery by moving the numbers and pictures and do not need to be verbal to participate. Children with complex needs, using eye gaze to communicate, can also participate with adult assistance and demonstrate knowledge they may otherwise not have the opportunity to do so.
