First Steps in Music Inspired Concert: Camping Themed Program

If you follow the First Steps in Music curriculum, and are looking for a way prepare a concert without taking away valuable classroom instruction, this is the concert for you!

This product prepares a full concert, which has activities for every step in the musical workout. It allows you to prepare your students for a concert that audiences will love, while still putting the focus on students becoming tuneful, beatful, and artful in every music class. There is an activity for each step, and some extensions are suggested if you would like to give the performance some more pizzazz. Families will see their students sing, move, keep the beat, and even play an un-pitched percussion instruments if you would like, while allowing you to show them the musical workout we go through in every music class, and explain why we do it.

This camping themed concert, still chooses folk music, but gives guidance on how to prepare and perform the music. Students may perform the music acapella, or sheet music is provided for piano, along with chords for the guitar/ukulele, if you would like to accompany them. There is even a PowerPoint that gives short explanations on each step, if you would like to present it during the concert.

This performance is suggested to be prepared in anywhere from 5-10 lessons, depending on which/how many extensions you choose to include. More information on specific songs/activities can be found in the photos.
