First Sound Fluency Sorting Mats Activity
- PDF
Description
First sound fluency practice by looking at a picture and matching it's first sound with the correct letter mat. For example: "Turtle" starts with the /t/ sound and therefore, would go on the "T" letter mat. The letter mats are bright and colorful, and the pictures are a mixture of photographs and clip art. Fun activity for morning work, phonics centers, or just a fun activity to do at home!
In this file:
- Sorting mats for every letter of the alphabet.
- 4 pictures that match with each letter according to the first sound.
- Note- letters A, I, U, and E only have 2 pictures per letter. (I only wanted to use pictures that started with the correct short vowel sounds.)
- Note- The letter X is included in this file. The pictures (x-ray and xylophone) do not start with the /x/ sound, but I chose to include it in the file anyway. You can decide if you want to use or remove this mat during your activity, or you can choose to use it as a teaching moment.
- This file only comes in color.
*** There is a PREVIEW available for this file. Please, take a look and see if it is a good fit for your classroom or home! ENJOY!
