First Grade Ocean Unit

This Power Point is a first grade Ocean Unit that has students becoming marine biologists and exploring the ocean habitat.

Students will begin by learning about the ocean as a habitat. Included are KWL charts that can be filled in by the teacher or the students on the board. Students will then learn about the ocean environment, coral reefs, and the three ocean zones (sunlit, twilight, and midnight.) The Venn diagram will help students see the similarities between coral reefs and the rainforest.
Students will then learn about whales, dolphins, sharks, turtles, starfish, and other strange and wonderful sea creatures through included video hyperlinks and stunning pictures. There is even a clip of sea turtles hatching that the students just can't get enough of!
This Unit can be broken up for whatever time period you plan on exploring the ocean. Arrange the slides as you wish.
