Description
This MAZE Activity is part of:
☑ 2017 Google Interactive Membership {GROWING BUNDLE} - Current & Future Products
This ❤ Google Interactive Activity ❤ is an engaging practice of finding "The Zeros and Multiplicities of Polynomial Functions" . In this model:
☑ Polynomials are Already Factored Out
☑ Polynomials are of higher degrees (3 and up)
☑ Multiplicity of zeros varies (1, 2, ....)
☑ Zeros are integers or fractions
If you are interested in models that have less zeros, multiplicity is 1, and answers are always integers, then check out this Google Interactive Maze.
Students are expected to be familiar with:
- Zero Product Property
- Zeros mean solutions
There are 15 questions where a different polynomial function is provided. "Linear Factors" (with leading coefficient of 1 or more) are given and students have to use the zero product property to find the solutions to each of the polynomial functions. From start to end student will be able to answer 11 questions out of the 15 provided to get to the end of the maze.
After determining the correct path, students will Drag and Drop an arrow pointing in the direction of the solutions and leading up to the next question to be solved. Student will continue with the maze until the path is found.
I have assigned this activity as a homework using Google Slides. My students were very engaged with Google Slides. Some students used their computers, some used their phones, while others used their IPADs. As long as there is a Google Drive there is a way.
I have attached an example slide to this products to helps students refresh in solving Polynomial Functions.
The answer key is included in the file. I usually share it when all assignments are turned in "Electronically"
I use Algebra II Common Core Pearson Textbook. This maze goes very well with Section 5.2: Polynomials, Linear Factors, and Zeros
