Description
Are you in need of fun, engaging activities that enhance and improve your students' reading comprehension? These fiction vs. nonfiction activities and graphic organizers are low prep and are perfect for creating a learning experience for your students. Use these fiction vs. nonfiction activities, crafts, posters, anchor charts, worksheets, and more to transform your reading comprehension instruction!
Fiction vs. Nonfiction Text is a comprehension skill that I introduce in my first grade classroom. I wanted to make this skill as fun and engaging as possible, especially for the primary classroom! But look out for the Book Bandit! Once you have taught the skill, the Book Bandit will come into your classroom and throw your books all over, mixing up your fiction and nonfiction texts. It's your students' jobs to organize them again based on their text features.
This packet is great to use with cooperative and whole group settings. There are no stories included, but it is designed to be used with ANY story. There are also other printables to use throughout your unit to practice sorting the two types of text. This would also be great to use in your school library!
This resource includes:
- fiction and nonfiction posters
- interactive anchor chart with fiction vs. nonfiction sort
- The Book Bandit Student craft
- bulletin board letters to display above bandit crafts
- The Book Bandit letter and activity directions
- a case file detective activity to use with cooperative groups throughout your unit or at a learning center
- printable/graphic organizer for students to use to identify fiction and nonfiction text
- fiction vs. nonfiction sort cut and paste
- exit tickets
- detective badges
- flap book (Great for having students cut and sort book covers from your Scholastic flyers.)
