Do your students need to work on identifying feelings and emotions? Are you looking for differentiated adapted books to use with your students? If so, these feelings and emotions adapted books are the perfect hands-on and engaging activity to use with your autism and special education students.
What's Included?
There are 7 feelings and emotions adapted books included in this download. They are;
- How Does the Boy Feel? Level 1.
'sad' 'happy' etc. - How Does the Girl Feel? Level 1.
'sad' 'happy' etc. - How Do the Children Feel? Level 1.
Photos - not clipart. 'happy' 'sad' angry' 'confused' etc. - How Do the Children Feel? Level 2.
Students fill in the person and the feeling i.e 'girl is happy' 'boy is excited' - How Do the Children Feel? Level 3.
'He is happy' 'She is angry' etc. - How Do the Children Feel? Level 4.
'The boy is confused' 'The girl is scared' etc. - How Do the Children Feel? Question Book
Students read (or be read) the sentence on top of the page and then work out how this would make them feel and answer with the corresponding feeling. E.g "You have lost your special teddy bear. How does that make you feel?" 'sad' There are no real right or wrong questions here as different situations may make students feel and react in different ways. This is a great way to work on feelings and empathy with students
Instructions
- Print out all of the pages.
- Cut out and laminate each of the pages and bind into books.
- Cut out and laminate each of the individual symbols and place velcro onto the back of them.
- Laminate the final page - the base board - and add velcro onto these.
- Place the individual symbols onto the base board. Students choose the symbols from the base board to place onto the adapted book as they complete it.
Adapted books are a great way for your students to work on their symbol recognition skills.
The vocabulary is suitable for American and British/Canadian etc classrooms. Eg - colour and color.
All images/vocabulary are linked to the theme of feelings and emotions.
