This set of pocket chart rhymes and activities for February will have your children excited about circle time or morning meeting. Activities included for Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Dental Health Month, and Dinosaurs which will work year-round.

This set is included in a GROWING BUNDLE that will keep your kids busy immersed in literacy and math all year

With a new rhyme AND learning activity EVERY WEEK in February, you will be ready for circle time or morning meeting in no time. There are so many ways to use the activities and are easy to differentiate for the children in your classroom. Everything but the pocket chart is included! No sentence strips to write, no searching for pictures, no wasted effort or extra materials needed.

Did you know you don’t even need to use a pocket chart for most of the activities? We often use them as magnet board activities and center activities at the tables.

WEEK 1

Song/Rhyme: I'm a Little Groundhog –This rhyme has a familiar tune and fairly simple text and rhyming. Photographs accompany the rhyme to help children with understanding and reading.

Activity: Practice Upper and lower-case letter recognition with this fun game that gets children using letter recognition, memory and reasoning skills to find the groundhog that is hiding behind a letter. This is truly a favorite game in my classroom.

WEEK 2

Song/Rhyme: Five Little Valentines – This rhyme focuses on five different colored hearts. Children will love finding the "rhymes with bed, its the color red".

Activity: Visual Discrimination - Heart Matches Contains a variety of hearts for children to match. Some matches are very simple, while others will be more challenging.

WEEK 3

Song/Rhyme: Dental Health Do you Brush your Teeth? Discuss good dental hygiene such as brushing, flossing and visiting the dentist.

Activity: Happy Tooth/Sad Tooth Discuss with your class things that make their teeth happy and healthy. Sort out foods and activities that are good and bad for their teeth. Includes a blackline version to the kids to do an activity to take home.

WEEK 4

Song/Rhyme: Dino Stomp – A fun rhyme suitable for year round.

Activity: Ways to Make Numbers to Twenty - Dino Theme Introduce or reinforce different ways numbers can be shown. This includes counting objects, tally marks, ten frames, written numeral, written words, and counting dice. Use as many or as few as appropriate for your children's developmental level.
