Farmworker leaders, Collaborative mural.
- Zip
Description
Farmworker leaders Cesar Chavez, Larry Itliong and Dolores Huerta. It is important to highlight the participation of Filipino American farmworkers in the fight for equal rights and social justice. Also to remember that it was Dolores Huerta who made "Yes, We Can! Si se puede!" a symbol of this victory.
In this collaboration mural you can have students research and add quotes in English and Spanish!
This packet also includes a set of biography research worksheets for students to learn more about these important heroes. This is a bilingual resource, Spanish and English, but I always invite students who speak other languages at fome to teach me how to say “hope” and we add them to the bulletin board.
The packet includes:
10 pages for the mural ( I cut them diagonally for more students to have one, but I have them work in partners so they know what part they are working on)
The words “Esperanza” and “hope”, one letter per page decorated with fruits and vegetables.
Biography worksheets with guides in Spanish and English
I recommend that students use the same type of media to color the different parts and the have the same texture.
Color pencils and crayons work best, I used the new “skin color” set for all the different shades of brown skin.
