What educators are saying

Great! I used this for teaching vocal exploration in my Kindergarten unit for a colleague music education methods course!

Description

Farm Animal flashcards, word wall cards, vocal explorations and student pages are perfect for use in the music room or general classroom.

I specifically created this set to go along with some of my farm songs such as "Had a Little Rooster", "Old MacDonald" and more in my Kindergarten Lesson Plan {Day 12}(sold separately).

I use these cards as I am singing "Had a Little Rooster" to keep track of all of the animals in the song. As we do each one, I set it on my white board tray, so that the kids can easily keep track of all of the animals and sounds in that cumulative song.

During Old MacDonald, I use the word wall cards, and as we sing each verse and the students think of an animal I add that card to my pocket chart on my board. They don't stay up all the time, but seeing the words with the animal pictures reinforces the vocabulary and builds literacy skills.

Later in the lesson, we have fun with the vocal explorations. I have included:

- 12 "pre-composed" vocal exploration pathways for you to follow the path the animal took as he left or returned to the barn.

- 12 blank pathways for you or your students to draw your own. This can be done on a SMARTboard or simply by projecting onto a marker board and using the markers to draw the vocal path.

- 1 student page. On one side they list write the name of and draw their favorite farm animal. On the other side they draw a vocal exploration pathway of their own that they can take home or perform for individual assessment.

These will save you the prep of creating them yourself. Just print and laminate!
