Students read a non-fiction passage about famous artist Edvard Munch and Expressionism to answer questions, mark the text for evidence, color according to their answers, and complete the “before” and “after” anticipation guides.

Engage students while honing Language Arts skills with this versatile cross-curriculum activity. Assess prior knowledge or use it as a unit review. As a bonus, students can color in their answers as a reward! Choose what works best for you.

Transform learning into a fun, colorful experience. Students can relax, master the material, and enjoy coloring in their responses. Plus, this activity is ideal for emergency sub plans. Display the finished product in the hallway for everyone to appreciate.

Close Reading CHALLENGES include:

  • Anticipation Task- Pre-assessment and Post-assessment (Discussion Points)

This activity takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. Can be completed in sections as time allows.

All tasks in this COLOR by CODE challenge are related to basic art history and require students to use several reading comprehension skills.
