Description
This family cultural project is ideal for distance learning while students are at home with their families. Students learn all about their family ancestry, culture, and traditions while practicing oral and writing skills in the area of Social Studies. This resource is editable and a digital Google Slides version is included.
The project has a fun treasure theme to help engage them in learning. Students create their own treasure box, which can be made from any container (a cardboard box, a shoe box, etc.) that they decorate. They are given the task of making and collecting special items to put inside their box, such as a picture of a flag where their ancestors are from, a drawing/photo of a family tradition, an artifact, etc. Please see the preview for the complete list of items.
Students do an oral presentation where they tell about each of the treasures in their box. For distance learning purposes, they can take a video of themselves doing the presentation and submit it via Flipgrid or any preferred platform.
There is also a written report where students write (or type) answers to questions about the items in their treasure box.

-Two grading rubrics, one for the written report and one for the oral presentation
-EDITABLE versions of the project guidelines and rubrics so that you can customize them for your own class
