Description

National Standard: 9.3 Evaluate nutrition principles, food plans, preparation techniques and specialized dietary plans.

Project Objective: The student will create a poster to compare the information of 3 different drink options.

This project is designed to be done in a course that incorporates a nutrition unit (Foods, Nutrition, Fitness Courses).

Lesson Duration: 3-4 days. Depending on length of class time.

Lesson Plan includes:

  • National FACS Standards
  • Objectives
  • Detailed Project Outline for the students
  • Sugars Research Worksheet
  • Grading Rubric for the project
  • Poster Examples
  • Notes to FACS Classroom teacher with my personal recommendations for what has worked for me.
  • This lesson does require the students to use a computer and have access to google forms (if you do not have access to google forms, the students could use survey monkey instead)

Materials Needed: Teacher: Examples of posters (pictures are included), sugar, ziploc bags, and clear packaging tape (for attaching containers to posters).

Students: Writing utensil, poster board, paper, ruler, markers, computer, access to google forms, and ability to obtain drink containers. If a student cannot obtain drink containers, students can print off pictures and nutrition labels.
