Fall Crafts Picasso Style: Pumpkin, Turkey, Portraits. Thanksgiving Art Bundle

This Fall or Autumn, Thanksgiving and Halloween craft collage bundle is a student and parent favorite! Each lesson contains a variety of student choices, resulting in amazing unique student Art. I tested them with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade with amazing results. My grade 5 students were especially engaged when I challenged them to invent new ways of using patterns and colors like Picasso did in his “Blue and Rose” period’s. Lessons take students 2 to 3 art classes to finish, depending on the project. I have my students layer color and add extra patterns on top of color. Lessons include a Cubist Portrait, a Fall or Halloween pumpkin, and a Thanksgiving or Autumn Turkey. The turkey lesson is in the likeness of Picasso’s “Le Coq“ painting. This can also be used as a disguise a turkey lesson using the included hats pages drawn from Picasso’s art. Example: disguise a turkey like Picasso’s “Weeping Woman” artwork, or “Maya with a sailboat”. The pumpkin lesson images are in the likeness of Picasso’s “Skull and leeks” paintings, and the portrait lesson images are from many of Picasso’s most popular portrait paintings. This is a great way to integrate fall crafts with art history and creative thinking. You could also tie in social emotional wellness with Picasso’s expressive art, and student’s could then write about it. Possibilities are endless!
