Description

This is a free and simple, step-by-step no cook visual recipe to make delicious fairy bread. Each step has a picture with simplified instructions. This resource also includes a video recipe, data collection and comprehension sheets to support your students. The visuals and videos help increase independence, ability to follow recipe directions and cooking skills.

Why use videos as well? They provide an opportunity for the student the view the task/skill in action, with the ability to view as many times as needed before attempting to complete the step. Video-based instruction has been found to be effective in teaching a range of skills, including functional living skills, to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other related disorders.

Cooking will help your students develop their daily living skills, social skills, following directions, motor skills, sequencing skills, reading and more!

What’s included in this resource?

1. Visual recipe (2 pages pdf) – First page is an ingredient and tools check list. Second page is recipe with steps.

2. Video recipe – Video recipe is in PowerPoint and features short videos displaying each step (see video preview for more details).

You will need the following ingredients and tools to teach this recipe – bread, sprinkles, butter, plate, knife and chopping board.

3. Comprehension sheet (pdf) – This fun and engaging sheet is designed to look like a 'recipe review'. Students are asked questions about the recipe (where they select the correct images) and can give 'star ratings' (see the preview for a closer look).

4. Activity analysis / data collection (pdf and word versions) – Use activity analysis to measure students' baseline, measure progress, form goals and identify specific strengths and challenges.

Quantities for ingredients have purposely been left out so you are able to adapt for the amount of ingredients needed for your group size.
