What educators are saying

I love, love, love...this inquiry unit! I combined it with another curriculum and used pieces from both due to my class focus. I absolutely love the close read assignments in this unit...the color coding really was beneficial to my students. So many great things here!
Now that the whole novel is included in the resource, it is perfect! This is exactly what my students needed to slow down and thoroughly analyze the language used in the story, and unpack some of those tricky passages.

    Description

Teaching a full-length novel and also finding ways to teach critical thinking and literary analysis is quite the challenge.  This set of resources will assist you in your endeavor to create a student-centered, engaged learning experience while reading Fahrenheit 451.  Students will be pushed to think deeply about critical concepts and learn new skills, but they’ll do it all through lessons designed to put their curiosity and inquiry FIRST.

AN INQUIRY APPROACH:  To what extent is rebellion a requirement for society to progress?

Inquiry-driven teaching is the key to engaging instruction and true measurement of skill development over time. With this unit's EQ, students will consider not only the text, but supplemental texts, and their own experiences. The EQ frames the unit: a gateway activity introduces them to the unit, formative assessments check in on the question, and we return to the question at the conclusion of the unit to see how students have grown in their thinking over time.  IN THIS RESOURCE, you will be provided with the pre-reading, during reading, and after reading activities and anchor charts that make an inquiry unit like this work.

    WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE?

    • Whole Novel Activities (PreReading, Symbolism Tracker, etc)
    • Part One Lessons and Activities
    • Part Two Lessons and Activities
    • Part Three Lessons and Activities
    • All Assessments Bundle (Chapter Quizzes, Summative Assessment Options)
    • Unit Pacing Calendar
    • Unit Deep Dive Video Tutorial

    WHAT ARE THE PERKS?

Each and every included resource is both print and digital.  Each activity can be used independently from the others, so you are free to pick and choose what you have time to use and come back to the others later!

IF YOU’RE STRUGGLING with teaching literary analysis and getting students to think deeply about a text, THIS RESOURCE WILL HELP YOU focus on what matters, layer skills little by little, and keep students engaged even when skills are new or difficult

This resource will leave you and your students feeling empowered and energized.   With a concentrated focus on literary analysis of characterization and symbolism alongside true inquiry-driven conversations about rebellion and society, you’ll finally feel like you’re teaching what really matters.
