Description

This resource is perfect for in-class or with distance learning! Share the factoring quadratics video lesson with students (includes a review of multiplying binomials before showing students how to factor a quadratic with a = 1), have students fill out the printable or digital study guide as they watch the video, then assign the self-grading practice quiz to see how well they understand the material.

This product includes:

  • Video Lesson with step-by-step directions and examples (28 min long)
  • Study Guide (printable or digital version)
  • Practice Quiz (graded automatically!)

The study guide is available in black and white in a printable form, or assign as an Easel activity! Students can type in their answers or use the pen tool. The practice quiz is an Easel assessment. It's easy to assign with a link, is editable, and TpT's Easel will grade it for you! See link in pdf for step-by-step directions if you're new to using Easel assessments.

Students will review how to multiply binomials, learn about the definitions of quadratic expressions and factors, then see step-by-step how to factor quadratic expressions with a leading coefficient of 1.

Interpret parts of an expression, such as terms, factors, and coefficients.
Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it. For example, see 𝘹⁴ – 𝘺⁴ as (𝘹²)² – (𝘺²)², thus recognizing it as a difference of squares that can be factored as (𝘹² – 𝘺²)(𝘹² + 𝘺²).
Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
