What educators are saying

These writing prompts are great to help my students challenge themselves to write more than the bare minimum. The word banks help them expand their vocabulary and the lines are perfect for early writers.
These sheets are perfect for students learning French. They help with ideas and key words, making student work a bit more independent!

    Description

These NO PREP French Writing Prompts each have a word bank and a self-check rubric. These may be used for small group writing, whole group writing, morning work, center work, writing workshop, guided writing, early finishers, etc. :) Ces pages avec banques de mots sont parfaites pour l'écriture créative ou l'écriture guidée tout au long de l'année scolaire.

Writing time can be very frustrating for both student and teacher when students constantly ask "Comment est-ce qu'on écrit/épelle le mot....?"

I tried REALLY hard to give students lots of opportunities to work with sight words and I tried to also give them strategies to spell new words but I found it complicated when words to a specific theme were needed. That is when hands would go up...especially with second language students!

Here is how these writing prompts will help:

*Students will spend less time searching for ideas. They have a title, a picture and a word bank to help. You might want to go over the word bank with them. A step further

might be to get the student to draw a little picture beside the word.

*By not having to spend precious time on the spelling of these winter theme words when composing, students will be able to concentrate on the important stuff (correct spelling of sight words, punctuation, sentence structure and text structure).

*Students will have more confidence and will be more independent, hopefully freeing up some time for the teacher to do mini-lessons, guiding reading, running records, guided writing, etc.

    *Each prompt has 2 options:

    A. with a self-check rubric at the bottom of the page. The rubric consists of 4 points

(Il y a des lettres majuscules, Il y a des points, Il y a des espaces entre les mots, Je vérifie le mur de mots)

    B. Without the self-check rubric at the bottom of the page

**There is a blank supplementary page that students can use if they want more space to write.
