Celebrate Black History Month with this set of nine passages. Each passage is written at four different levels.

--- Nine texts written at four levels.

--- Steps for Close Reading Student Cards (just my ideas--- every class is different. I am including blank cards so you can write your own.)

--- Steps for Close Reading teacher sheet with suggestions for forming questions relevant to this unit.

--- Custom text coding chart specific to historical figure informational text.

--- Student Interview sheet for question development. I am providing only one copy which you can use for each text.

--- Student information collection sheet with sample answer keys.

--- Student writing response sheet with text supported opinionated response. This is where the student must justify their response using evidence form the text.

--- "Mini-Unit" Dividers which can be used however you choose. (Create a timeline or cover sheets for mini-packets)

This unit is ideal for second, third, and fourth. Lexile levels are written between first through fourth.
