Each worksheet is designed for Grades 9th – 12th but some minor changes should make any perfect for older or younger students as needed.

This assignment is perfect for introductory class work and discussion, homework, or extra credit. The assignment is a 2-page article that highlights the basic aspects of the field of forensic science. There is a 2-page question sheet to accompany the article.

2) FORENSIC FILES (10 WORKSHEET BUNDLE #4)

*Videos are necessary for the completion of the included worksheets. As of March 2016, the entire series is available free on You Tube which could make it ideal for computer lab or homework assignments (technology access provided).

Questions on each assignment go in order and will help students remain focused on key science topics. Two extended response questions are on the back of each worksheet (description, problem/solution, sequence, compare/contrast) which are perfect for reflection and discussion at the conclusion of the video. Additional follow-up writing prompts are also provided with this purchase as a power point which is perfect for warm-up writing or class discussion.

3) FORENSIC VOCABULARY PUZZLE

This assignment is great for classwork, homework, or extra credit. It works especially well for students new to forensics who will not be familiar with many of the key vocabulary terms.

PART 1 - A 50-word vocabulary criss-cross puzzle is provided. Students have the terms and must determine their correct placement into the grid using analytical thinking. ANSWER KEY FOR TEACHER IS PROVIDED.

PART 2 - Students will then choose 22 of the 50 terms to find the correct definitions. Forensic textbooks will have all terms but use of the Internet is best (great way to allow students to use their phones or iPads in class if the computer lab is not an option). Learning the definitions will allow for future reports, projects, or testing.

4) FIELDS OF FORENSICS WEBQUEST

This webquest assignment is perfect for a class introduction, homework, or extra credit.

The webquest focuses on specific fields of forensics (toxicology, odontology, crime scene investigation) and the responsibilities of each area. There is not one website that has all of the information so students will be tasked with using Internet search engines to find the answers. This works excellent for class discussion or for branching out into specific reports or projects on the various branches of Forensic Science. Answer key is not provided.

5) FORENSIC 101 ARTICLE

Forensic Science Article : Crime Scene Procedures

This assignment is perfect for class work and discussion, homework, or extra credit.

The assignment is a 2-page article that highlights four unique changes that can take place in a human body after the process of decomposition begins.

There is a 2-page question sheet to accompany the article.

6) FORENSIC CASE ARTICLE

The assignment is a 2-page article that highlights a real life crime that needed forensic science to help solve it.

7) FORENSIC WEBQUEST – 3 WEBSITES

This is a nice short 18-question webquest that tasks students with going to three specific websites. Addresses for the three websites are provided on the worksheet. It's perfect for homework or extra credit or a 1-day visit to the school's computer lab.

Students will read information on: the field of forensic science, school and training necessary to earn a degree as a forensic scientist, and a brief history of the field of forensics.

This webquest is perfect as an introduction to forensics and works great in middle school as well.

8) FORENSIC SCIENCE TIMELINE POWER POINT

This purchase is for a 40-slide power point presentation on important dates in the field of Forensic Science. It's a great tool to enhance lectures, work toward projects/reports, or simply serve as a first day introduction to the field of forensics.

The power point is easy for you to modify or edit based on the needs of your students.

The presentation is also provided as a PDF file as well.

9) FINGERPRINT ARTICLE & CHARTS

This assignment is perfect to use for either in-class or homework. It can easily be done in a short amount of time and then opens up future lessons/activities to follow on the topic of fingerprints.

The focus on the assignment is a brief introduction to fingerprints and basic fingerprint patterns.

PART 1 - a one page article with 8 question providing a general overview of fingerprint science as used in forensics.

PART 2 - examples of the three major forms of fingerprints (loop, whorl, arch). Students are to look over the examples and then identify the major pattern found in 12 supplied prints. Finally students are to use a few items to get a view of their own fingerprints by completing a chart and identifying each of their fingers and the major print pattern found on it (pencil, tape, scrap paper is all that is required).

10) FORENSIC 101 ARTICLE

Forensic Science Article : Gun Identification

The assignment is a 2-page article that highlights areas of ballistics and how guns and bullets can be matched to crimes and evidence at crime scenes.
