Description
This unit is comprised of 24 lessons designed to meet the needs of 4th-8th
grade gifted students. The three main goals of the unit are to: (a) introduce students
to the concept of exploration, (b) afford students an opportunity to use the problem-based learning method described by Gallagher (2009), and (c) provide context
whereby students can explore the five themes of geography. By the end of the unit
students will have completed an individualized research project requiring strategic
planning and critical thinking.
