What educators are saying

This resource is filled with interesting and engaging lessons for the students that are low-prep for teachers.
This is a fantastic bundle and the Pear Deck slides are amazing to help students get engaged with the lessons. I would recommend buying a copy of the Text Book from Amazon. I read it to get familiar with the course since it was my first time teaching Ethnic Studies.

Description

Comprehensive Ethnic Studies Course - Complete with Course Materials and Engaging Tools, Rubrics, Answer Keys and a full textbook.

Explore U.S. history through the lens of two powerful theoretical frameworks: the 4 I's of Oppression and the 4 Tenets of Ethnic Studies. Engage your students with enriching reading texts, captivating slides, and interactive graphic organizers, designed to foster deep comprehension during each lesson. Plus, each unit concludes with an insightful Socratic seminar, encouraging thought-provoking discussions.

Thought not required, it is possible with this curriculum to enhance your teaching experience with the convenience of Pear Deck integration! Easily assign any of our dynamic slideshows to your students, making learning accessible and interactive. To get started, check out a step-by-step guide on how to assign a Pear Deck assignment through Google Slides. Additionally, explore the option of using Pear Deck's premium features for an even more immersive learning experience. This course also can be adapted for Nearpod use

Empower your students with the knowledge of Ethnic Studies and unlock new levels of understanding in U.S. history!

This is my entire course, with all course materials, including an introductory unit. This includes

  • Six Units
  • 47 Pear Decks
  • Worksheets for every Pear Deck with answer keys and a rubric
  • Graphic Organizers for every Pear Deck with a rubric
  • Worksheets for a final Capstone Project

Any of the slideshows can be assigned to your students through Pear Deck.

  • A basic Pear Deck account is free, but these were all created with a premium account and use some of these features.
  • Pear Deck has an immersive reader to support IEPs and language learners! All course texts are in the slide deck and no additional modifications are needed
  • Since these were all created with Google Slides, they can also be assigned individually or converted to Nearpod.
  • These were designed with a Blended/Modern Classroom Project environment in mind but students do NOT need individual devices. The Slides can be used as projector slides.

Enough content for an entire semester (or year!).

  • In my class with high school juniors and seniors, each lesson would take between two and five class periods depending on how in depth scholars wanted to get. Expect longer for younger grades.
  • We were able to make it through about half the course in a semester, including the capstone project.

Table of Contents:

  1. Unit One: Foundations of Ethnic Studies (6 lessons )
  2. Unit Two: Indigenous History in the United States (11 lessons)
  3. Unit Three: Black History in the United States (13 lessons)
  4. Unit Four: Latino History in the United States (9 lessons)
  5. Unit Five: Asian American History in the United States (8 lessons)
  6. Unit Six: Capstone Public Policy Project

The Textbook:

This course text is also available as a book on Amazon! You are still able to access the manuscript for the entire text from this purchase, so it is NOT necessary to purchase elsewhere; this is just another option you have for your students.
