What are teachers saying about these equivalent fractions worksheets?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “These lessons are fantastic. I love how they are separated into a perfect scaffolding model. Gradually releasing the skill over to the students.” -Scarlett B.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I seriously cannot sing the praises of Sally's lesson packets enough.  They are comprehensive but focused, excellently designed, and manage to be very explicit while still allowing the kids opportunities to construct their own understanding.  And they're so affordable!  Don't hesitate---you won't regret the purchase! ” -TpT Buyer

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I have come to love teaching fractions using a number line.”  -Karen T.

How can I use this “Equivalent Fractions on a Number Line” lesson?

  • Supplement your core curriculum
  • Reteach or remediation
  • Small group math intervention
  • Tutoring or homeschool
  • Test-prep

What do these equivalent fractions worksheets cover?

  • Students must use knowledge of equivalent fractions to place fractions with various denominators on a given number line.
  • For example- when given a number line broken into 8ths, students must place 1/2, 3/4, and 5/8 and understand the connections between these various denominators.

These equivalent fractions worksheets are designed for 3rd or 4th grade and are common core aligned to 3.NF.1 or 4.NF.1 (Equivalent Fractions).  However, they could easily be used as a review for 5th - 8th grade math.  I’ve taught every grade in middle school and never have I ever had a group come to me with a true mastery of equivalent fractions on a number line!

Let’s face it, fractions are tough!!  You and I both know that if students don’t have a strong foundational understanding of fractions, they will be on the struggle bus for every math class from here on out.  These equivalent fractions worksheets are the gift that keeps on giving.  Every subsequent thing you teach will be easier from this point forward!

Understand a fraction 1/𝘣 as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into 𝘣 equal parts; understand a fraction 𝘢/𝑏 as the quantity formed by 𝘢 parts of size 1/𝘣.
Explain why a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 is equivalent to a fraction (𝘯 × 𝘢)/(𝘯 × 𝘣) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
