Description
The "Ways to Show 1/2" Equivalent Fractions Flip Book is a fun, hands-on resource designed to help you introduce and reinforce the concept of equivalent fractions in a concrete, engaging way! Students will create fractions flip books and sort 29 different fraction models into categories: 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, and 4/8. A written response task asks them to choose two fraction models and explain why they are equivalent. A variety of fraction models are provided for this task, allowing for quick and easy differentiation. This is an excellent addition to your teaching resources for 3rd grade math standard CCSS 3.NF.3.
Care has been taken to include fraction models in a variety of shapes, with fractional parts arranged in a variety of orientations. All work is based on the CCSS-specified denominators for third grade: 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8.
