Equivalent Expressions with Binomials and Trinomials

Let students explore the concept of equivalence while they learn the basics of binomial and trinomial expressions. In this four page self-discovery investigation, the students will diagram binomial expressions on graph paper. Then, they will relate area to an expanded trinomial form. This is an excellent introduction activity for teaching vertex form or general form of quadratic equations.
