Description

This math flipchart for Promethean Board and Activ studio teaches students to identify shapes with equal parts and to count the number of equal parts within a shape. This flipchart is aligned with the skills covered in 9.1 Houghton Mifflin Math - 1st grade. The lesson opens with a word problem in which students must use simple division to solve, and can use manipulatives to check. Next, is a quick review (test prep) and lesson quiz (pre-test) derived from the text. Next, is a title page introducing the lesson and then a page stating the lesson's objectives. The lesson then introduces vocabulary terms (along with definitions): equal, part, and whole, and visual to demonstrate the meaning of each. Next, students are given a page full of shapes in which they are to differentiate the shapes with equal parts from the shapes without equal parts. Next, students are shown a page of shapes in which they are to indicate how many equal parts are in each shape. The next activity invites students to draw a line or lines on the given shapes to make equal parts. The next page allows for review and closure. Last is a math journal activity incorporating drawing.
