Entire Afro-Latino Unit (Project Included)

Three 80 minute lessons on Afro-Latino culture, history and peoples. It also includes a three-week research project. Students have the opportunity to choose a specific topic to research. Then, they will write a paper about that topic and give the class a presentation. Students will enjoy learning about a topic they don't have the opportunity to learn about in their history classes. They will explore different famous Afro-Latinos, the history of the slave trade to Latin America and current-day issues surrounding colorism, discrimination and bias in Latin America.
