    Description

    A French music unit is an absolute must for any Core French or even French Immersion class. Music is an essential part of our lives and introducing French music to our students is one way to increase proficiency in the French language. In this unit, students will learn about the origins of many musical genres in the black community as well as the contributions of so many black artists to the music industry. This is a French music unit for the 21st Century classroom - an inclusive & engaging one!

    After completing this unit, your Core French students will have :

    • Explored the origins of modern musical genres and their roots in Black history, as well as the contributions of Black artists to the music industry
    • Learnt about famous francophone artists and created a foldable project on an artist of their choice
    • Communicated orally and in writing their musical preferences
    • read about the lives, careers and contributions of beloved and deceased francophone artists Charles Aznavour and Edith Piaf
    • thoroughly explored francophone artists, French music and francophone cultures

    This presentation includes :

    - Links to a Quizlet set and a Kahoot on music vocabulary

    - French reading comprehension slides on Gims and Lous and the Yakuza

    - 9 French speaking prompts to start each lesson

    - French writing activities on French songs with built in vocabulary and sentence structures

    - links to engaging music videos and interviews
