What educators are saying

Thank you for this wonderful product! I especially liked the reading passages that helped my students understand what energy is and helped them make connections by including information about something they are interested in...rollercoasters.
I love everything from this seller. The Energy Bundle was systematic and had an engaging mix of text, video, and hands on activities to keep my kiddos excited about what they were learning. I will definitely be using this again next year.

    Description

Welcome to my Energy 5E UNIT BUNDLE for Fourth Grade! This is a BUNDLE of all of the 5E ENERGY Units for fourth grade. 5E Units include: Energy in Motion, Transfer of Energy, Energy of Collisions, and Energy Conversions. These units are designed to provide your students with a comprehensive understanding of energy and its many forms.

    ENERGY IN MOTION

In the "Energy in Motion" unit, students will learn about the various forms of energy and how they can be used to create motion. They will also investigate how different objects can store energy and release it in different ways.

It is an inquiry-based unit where students learn about how energy affects motion. Students explore how energy and speed are related, observe the motion of different objects, analyze and interpret data to explore the relationship of energy and motion, and more. The unit includes three parts for each of the 5E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) and more.

KEY CONCEPTS IN THE 5E UNIT ABOUT ENERGY IN MOTION INCLUDE

    • Relationship of energy and speed
    • Relationship of energy and motion
    • Motion of different objects and the energy of that motion

    TRANSFER OF ENERGY

The "Transfer of Energy" unit focuses on how energy can be transferred from one object to another. Students will learn about the laws of conservation of energy and how they apply to everyday situations. They will also conduct experiments to see how energy can be transferred between objects.

It is an inquiry-based unit where students learn about how energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, bath, and electric current. Students move object to explore the movement of energy. They explore the collision of objects, transfer of energy, change in motion, light energy, and electric currents. The unit includes three parts for each of the 5E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) and more.

KEY CONCEPTS IN THE 5E TRANSFER OF ENERGY UNIT

    • Transfer of energy
    • Conservation of energy
    • How energy moves through a system and what happens when components of that system change
    • Factors that affect how energy is transferred

    ENERGY OF COLLISIONS

In the "Energy of Collisions" unit, students will learn about the effects of collisions on both moving and stationary objects. They will investigate how different types of collisions can produce different results. Students will also conduct experiments to observe the effects of changes in speed, mass, and elasticity on collisions.

It is an inquiry-based unit where students learn about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide. Students learn that energy can be moved from place to place by moving object, that when objects collide energy can be transferred and an object's motion changes, and more. The unit includes three parts for each of the 5E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) and more.

KEY CONCEPTS IN THE 5E ENERGY OF COLLISIONS UNIT INCLUDE

    • Transfer of energy during collisions
    • Energy movement through a system
    • Changes in energy when components of a system change
    • Factors that affect energy and collisions
    • How energy changes forms during a collision

    ENERGY CONVERSIONS

Finally, in the "Energy Conversions" unit, students will learn about the various ways that energy can be converted from one form to another. They will investigate how energy can be converted between potential and kinetic energy, and they will also explore how energy is affect by different factors when converted. By the end of this unit, students will have a thorough understanding of the many ways that energy can be converted from one form to another.

It is an inquiry-based unit where students learn about how energy is converted from one form to another. Students are asked to think about the factors that affect how energy is converted and how that conversion affects is affected by the components of a system. Students will design, test and refine a device that converts energy from one form into another. The unit includes three parts for each of the 5E's (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate) and more.

KEY CONCEPTS IN THE 5E ENERGY CONVERSION UNIT INCLUDE

    • Energy conversions from one form to another
    • What happens when energy moves through a system
    • Factors that affect how energy is converted within a system

    NGSS4-PS3-4
Apply scientific ideas to design, test, and refine a device that converts energy from one form to another. Examples of devices could include electric circuits that convert electrical energy into motion energy of a vehicle, light, or sound; and, a passive solar heater that converts light into heat. Examples of constraints could include the materials, cost, or time to design the device. Devices should be limited to those that convert motion energy to electric energy or use stored energy to cause motion or produce light or sound.
    NGSS4-PS3-3
Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide. Emphasis is on the change in the energy due to the change in speed, not on the forces, as objects interact. Assessment does not include quantitative measurements of energy.
    NGSS4-PS3-1
Use evidence to construct an explanation relating the speed of an object to the energy of that object. Assessment does not include quantitative measures of changes in the speed of an object or on any precise or quantitative definition of energy.
    NGSS4-PS3-2
Make observations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electric currents. Assessment does not include quantitative measurements of energy.
