End of the Year Countdown Activities with Math & Reading

These end of the year countdown activities include math and reading, so they are perfect to use during your countdown to summer! No more stressing over finding activities for an ABC countdown, these hands-on activities integrate reading, writing, math, and FUN!

Bubblegum Day– Spend part of your day with bubblegum fun! Teach students how to blow bubbles, how bubblegum is made, read bubblegum books, and have a bubblegum blowing contest!

Paper Airplanes – Learn how to make a paper airplane, and then host a paper airplane throwing contest. Also, follow the scientific method with designing paper airplanes that fly far! My students love it when we challenge another class for double the fun!

Play Kickball– Partner with another class in your grade-level (or just play with your own class) and take the kids out for some good, old-fashioned kickball. Use bonus resources to teach the history of kickball!

Lemonade Taste Test – It’s always nice to have a refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot day. During this time, follow a recipe to make homemade lemonade and pink lemonade. OR, skip that and buy the instant lemonade! Then, taste them both and vote on which one tastes the best!
