What educators are saying

These were so engaging for the students. We first used these as part of our ABC countdown at the end of kindergarten on "Q for Quiet" day. The kids enjoyed acting out without talking and the teams worked on whispering guesses to each other. Then it became a favorite brain break!
This was a great way to review action verbs as well as enjoy a brain break with the promise of Summer! Thank you and have a great one!

Description

Are you looking for some fun summer activities for the end of the year or for summer school? You and your students will enjoy playing this Summer Charades game over and over again. It is great for reinforcing social skills when playing games, morning meeting or a brain break. Any way you use it...your kiddos will LOVE it!

THIS FUN CHARADES GAME ALSO SUPPORTS VOCABULARY DEVELOPMENT AND LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT AS CHILDREN NAME THE ACTIVITY THAT IS PRESENTED.

My class and I created a game one day when we were learning about verbs. I always enjoy hearing what ideas the class will come up with when you present them with a challenge. Ever since this was created about 10 years ago, my students have LOVED playing it.

So, now I have created SUMMER CHARADES to play for the End of the Year! You can glue the pictures onto a colored popsicle stick or simply place them in a basket, paper bag, box or jar. I usually placed the cards on sticks face down in a plastic jar with the sign attached to the front of the jar and kept it by my easel for easy access and it was always a great game to give a sub for a filler. The children also enjoyed playing it at Indoor Recess and if they had a choice activity. They would play this in small groups or with a partner!

The directions are similar to the good old game of Charades except you are simply acting out the summer word or phrase.

♥ One child picks from the jar figures out what the picture and word shows, let’s you see it for proof and then acts it out for the class.

♥ The class gets 3 guesses. Whoever gets it correct, is the next person to act out the picture.

♥ If no one guesses it, I use my picking sticks, which have the student’s names on them, to randomly choose the next person to act it out!
