Description of Activity

The primary goals of this activity are to enhance (1) cognitive skills reviewing knowledge and memory of the movie; (2) social skills allowing students to participate collectively in a friendly game; and (3) academic skills presenting a low-stakes way to practice test-taking strategies as well as writing practice. Of course, the hope is that your students or family enjoys it!

Encanto (2021) is a PG animated Disney film that explores the complexities of family via the lens of a Colombian family with special gifts. This activity uses the film as a way to engage students during and after the movie through a fun 11 question trivia game that includes slides, handouts, assessments, a teaching guide, and videos!

As of December 21, 2022, the film is available on the Disney+ streaming service, or alternatively, you can purchase the film via Disney.
