Description

This Boom Cards™ deck contains 58 cards with two parts for teaching and testing of emotions and actions for OLDER children. This does not identify the emotion, but it teaches how to react and act on situation. It emphasizes that ALL EMOTIONS ARE VALID, but NOT ALL ACTIONS ARE OKAY (example hitting when angry).

The first part of the deck is dedicated for teaching. It has a definition page for emotions/feelings. It also has 2 cards to teach each emotion (15 emotions: happy, sad, angry, scared, disgusted, surprised, confused, excited, nervous, annoyed, disappointed, worried, embarrassed, bored, relieved).

The first card of the two cards talks about the emotion and when do people feel that emotion with a blank space underneath to relate the emotion to the personal experience of the student.

The second part of the two teaching cards talks about the natural body reactions and some acceptable actions when one experiences such emotion. It also has a blank space below to talk about "How do you act when you feel _?"

The testing part has two parts:

1. Identifying and describing emotion based on pictures (15 cards) -choices field of 3 (in which were matched according to similar emotions such as happy, excited, and relieved). It also has a blank space for the question "how did you know" to focus on the non-verbal aspects of the emotion. NOTE: The choice will show a blue outline until the "submit" button is clicked.

2. Identify the emotion in the situation and provide appropriate actions (10 Cards) - Two open ended questions: "How would you feel?" and "What would you do?". It requires manual grading from the therapist.
