What educators are saying
excellent resource for growth mindset
my students love the fact that they can let you know how they feel at any given time during the day
I have used this self-assessment with my D75 students for years. This is an excellent way to get students to identify their own learning needs.
Description
Give your students the tools to assess their own learning with these emoji style self-assessment tools! They are based on Marzano's levels of understanding, and include posters, student use cards, and a student response page.
>>>> This product now includes TWO VERSIONS! The only change is the emoji that goes with #3. The first version has a huge grin (that some read as a grimace), and the second is a blushing smile. Choose the one you want, both are complete files. =)
Studies show that students who are partners in their own assessment show increased engagement in all subject areas, and are more likely to become lifelong learners. Also, students who are taught to analyze their own learning show increased motivation to learn.
This means that we need to focus on metacognition in the classroom, or teaching students to think about their thinking! This product will help.
I have used variations on this theme in the past (stoplight colors to show student understanding, and a one through four scale), but I hadn't found a way to really focus my class on the idea of self assessment. I wanted posters, a clearly written rubric, student cards to put on rings, and a half-page assessment tool for students to put in their interactive notebooks. Then, it had to incorporate Marzano's number scale.
If you would like to read my blog post for more information, you can find it HERE.
Please look at the preview to see if this is the right product for you. As always, this product is copyrighted and to be used in one classroom only. Please share it by sending your colleagues to my store, so that they can see what else I have to offer.
