Description

Unique Implied Line Drawing with 3-D Spider with Poetry Extension! Great for Halloween Art Fun! Middle School or High School Art Sub Plan or Easy Seasonal Display Project!

  • This seasonal art lesson can be used as a cross-curricular art + middle school poetry or an art + science insect lesson!
  • Use this Autumn or Halloween-themed art drawing lesson to teach about implied lines. simple contour drawing, value, focal point, and 3-D Paper construction!
  • Works as a great “time filler” when some students finish their projects way before the rest of the class.
  • This lesson is simple but challenging enough to also be used as a Sub Plan activity.
  • Engaging for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. High School students will enjoy this lesson too!
  • Creates a great hallway display!

Why Students Liked This Activity:

My students really liked using value shading and creating the 3-D Spider but also just enjoyed learning how to draw a spider web!

It’s easy to forget that sometimes the simplest things can be very satisfying to young artists.

Haiku Poetry Extention

  • To take this lesson “up a notch” I also have included a poetry extension option with this lesson.
  • Students could write a simple haiku about their spiders and webs. If a student doesn't celebrate Halloween, then a poem about Autumn is lovely too!
  • Extend the lesson by having students write their poems around a decorated paper frame for display. (It's cute to add extra hanging spiders from strings!)
