What educators are saying

This resource was great in supporting the students in the reading and writing of words containing digraphs. Thanks
Love this resource! I started creating my own version and then thought I would have a search and found these. They had everything I needed and saved me loads of time.

Description

Digraph Mnemonics- includes NSW Font options for t, y, q, k.

Reading science research into the effects of embedded picture mnemonics (often referred to by David Kilpatrick) has indicated that embedded picture mnemonics are an effective instructional technique for increasing letter-sound acquisition and letter recognition. Embedded letters remind learners of previously seen pictures with those shapes whose names begin with the relevant letter sounds. Embedded picture mnemonics are available from Kimberley Kreations for single letter, digraphs and trigraphs.

Single letter mnemonics- https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Embedded-Picture-Mnemonics-Single-letter-graphemes-Warm-Ups-Science-of-Reading-6246428

Trigraph mnemonics- https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Embedded-Picture-Mnemonics-Trigraphs-Warm-Ups-Science-of-Reading-7002235

What makes these embedded picture mnemonics stand out from others available is that they cover all of the digraphs and the sounds that they represent (e.g. bread, leaves, break- 3 different sounds, same digraph). Some digraphs have multiple options as I was conscious of teacher preference and cognitive load of students. There is a total of 185 to choose from.

The file will come as a powerpoint with digraphs sorted via sound. These are excellent to add to Warm Ups, Daily Reviews and used to create sound walls in your classroom. They are also useful for the sounds-write phonics program that introduces multiple sounds at once (speech to print) or can be used to complement another phonics program.

The following Digraph Mnemonics are included in this massive bundle.
