Elements of Art Vocabulary Trading Cards and Illustrated Posters

Elements of Art Vocabulary Trading Cards and Word Wall! Make studying elements of art vocabulary FUN in whole groups, partners, individually, or centers with meaningful, research based strategies! This is a set of 8 elements of art trading cards that you can use with your students when teaching art. I created them to look like trading cards and my students LOVE using them. I’ve also included an enlarged version of this set of cards to use as an elements of art word wall or bulletin board!

This Elements of Art Vocabulary Set includes:
• 8 elements of art trading cards with the word an example of the element of art on the front and an explanation and characteristics on the back.
• The same 8 elements of art cards with the words on them but blank spaces for students to draw their own examples of the element of art and room to write their own explanations and characteristics.
• 8 blank cards that students can use to add more art terms to as they come across them in their studies.
• A template for a labeled box that students can cut out, write their name on and color to store their elements of art cards in.
• An enlarged version of this set of cards to use as an elements of art word wall or bulletin board!
• A list of ways you can use these elements of art vocabulary flashcards/trading cards with your students that is based on Robert Marzano’s “Six Steps to Better Vocabulary Instruction”. This list helps me because I can show parents, administrators, other teachers, etc. that I’m using research-based methods in my classroom.
• Trading Card Manual: 15 pages of tips and ideas on how to use these trading cards in your class.

I print these elements of art flashcards out double sided on card stock so they look and feel like real trading cards but they work just as well on regular paper. The front of each card has the element of art with its picture. The back has an explanation and characteristics.
