What educators are saying

This resource was a huge lifesaver when I was put in charge of teaching music for summer school! Whew! I was so glad to have it and the kiddos absolutely loved it!
This was a great bundle to use in the music classroom. There was so much information and I felt that I could use what I needed and adapt other materials to meet the needs of my school.

    Description

Elementary Music Lesson Plans (Bundled) includes lesson plans for K-3rd and 5th grade music students. Save $18 by purchasing this bundle rather than each grade separately! Each lesson includes explanations of the activities, songs, and games each grade will participate in during one 30 or 35 minute class. Because my school is on an A, B, C rotation, each music lesson is used three days in a row before moving on to the next music lesson.

NOTE: THE RESOURCES THAT GO WITH THESE LESSONS ARE SOLD SEPARATELY. The resources product contains PowerPoint presentations, song notation, worksheets, posters, and other resources that are listed in blue throughout the lessons. Visit the link below to view this product:

To avoid copyright violations, you will receive a PDF version of this product. The document is not editable.

Throughout the lessons, you will notice blue text. For example, in the preview file, the first Kindergarten lesson has blue text that reads: "K Resources Page 22." This means that if you purchase the Music Resources that go with these lesson plans, you will have the notation for the song mentioned in that lesson.

These music lesson plans are meant to serve as a general road map for your elementary music lesson planning. They give guidelines for when to teach each grade certain musical concepts along with game and activity ideas. You can use these music lesson plans in conjunction with your own music lessons or stand alone.

    • Please note that 4th grade is not included in these lessons (other than reference to very basic concepts students are working on). This is due to the fact that, at the time I created these lessons, I used a book called "Recorder Karate" by Barb Philipak for the majority of the year with 4th grade.
    • The 3rd grade lessons go from August-February and contain fewer lessons (37) than the other grades. This is because I spent the last three months of each school year taking my 3rd graders through a book called "Mallet Madness" by Artie Almeida and therefore did not need to lesson plan for those months. The price of the 3rd grade lessons is lower than the other grades for this reason.
    • I spend time teaching my 5th graders how to play the guitar. 13 of the 52 5th grade lessons included in this product are beginning guitar lessons. If you do not teach guitar at your school, and you purchase this product, you will have 39 original 5th grade lesson plans that are not related to the guitar.
    • Each grade level has the same lesson plans for the first two weeks of the school year. I formatted them this way in order to make transitioning back into the school-year easier on myself and to make sure each grade reviews the Star Spangled Banner every year.
    • Most songs listed in the music lessons are from the Share the Music textbook series, Music K-8, or pop culture. If you don't have access to any of these resources, many of the songs are accessible through Amazon, iTunes, and YouTube
    • Each grade contains roughly 52 lessons (3rd grade contains about 26 lessons). The number of lessons per month vary depending on days in the month, holidays, parent-teacher conferences, etc. However, months average between 6 and 8 lessons per month.
