Description

This set comes with a list of concepts and skills to cover, lesson ideas to teach each concept or skill, and accompanying materials (links to free recordings and directions, printable worksheets, powerpoints and visuals etc) for the entire month of April for every grade, K-6. This resource is designed to be adapted to a variety of teaching needs, so the lesson activities are listed by concept rather than laid out sequentially (although a sample sequence is included for your reference)- you can design your own specific lesson plans based on the standards you need to address, the amount of class time you have, and the students you have in your classes. The content and materials you need to teach the lessons are all included. April's curriculum includes a world music unit in most grades, a recorder unit in 3rd grade, and a drumming circle unit in 5th grade (suggestions for alternatives are included for those who may not teach recorder or drumming in those grades and/or don't have access to the instruments).

Want to save money and get materials to cover the whole year? This set is included in the Year-Long Bundle!

The materials in this set are the ones I use in my own classroom. My teaching is based on training in a variety of methodologies including Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Suzuki, and I am careful to incorporate a wide range of learning styles and interests in my lessons. This set can be used as a stand-alone curriculum- there is enough material to cover the 8 half-hour lessons per month that I see each grade- or you can pick and choose your favorites to incorporate into other curricula you may already be using.

Please note that this set does NOT include formal lesson plans, nor are the activities linked to any specific standards (although my curriculum is designed to meet the U.S. National Core Arts Standards). You can take the material and use it to design your own lesson plans to meet the needs of your curriculum. Please take a close look at the preview to get a clear idea of how the lesson ideas are presented. You can also download a free copy of the September resources for 5th grade here to see what is included and test it out in your classroom, and watch this video to see everything that's included in the set.

The purchase of this set entitles the buyer to use the materials in their own classroom. If you would like to use this in collaboration with your department or share with other teachers, you can purchase additional licenses at a discount.

Please note that, due to the variety of resources offered in this file, the download comes in a zipped file.
