Elementary Band Scope and Sequence | Year One

Are you a new teacher struggling to figure it out? Are you a veteran teacher that has hit a plateau and can't figure out how to take your students to the next level?

Check out our comprehensive scope and sequence for the first year of elementary school band! (aka 4th grade band or whenever your school starts band).

This scope and sequence outlines a full year of beginning band in an elementary school pull-out setting. The year is broken down into two fifteen-week semesters with weekly goals to be accomplished. Three times throughout the year, students will have an assessment. Students will also perform a winter and spring concert.

This scope and sequence moves at a quick enough pace to keep all learners engaged and allows plenty of time for review and any additional activities and exercises that you, the teacher, would like to implement.

This scope and sequence assumes all learners:

• Receive 1 hour of music instruction per week in a pull-out elementary program
• Have zero music experience prior to this class (no general music classes and/or private lesson experience)
• Are taught by one teacher without any assistants or instructional aides
