    Description

Electron Configuration & Orbital Diagram: PowerPoint and Notes (Digital & Print) one PowerPoint presentation and the accompanying set differentiated Guided Notes in Worksheet and Foldable styles for Interactive Notebooks. The guided notes are in print and digital formats. Both styles complement distance, hybrid, and traditional learning. The digital worksheet is great for online platforms such as Google Classroom, Schoology, or others. The digital fillable pdf form can be filled out using Adobe Acrobat, Lumen, Kami, or other free pdf-editing applications.

    PowerPoint:

Electron Configuration is covered in detail explaining the four quantum numbers and how they relate to each other. Electron shells, orbitals, and orbital shapes are explained. Standard electron configuration, noble gas configurations, and the electron configurations of ions are all taught and students are given the opportunity to practice problems. Orbital diagrams are also presented with practice problems.

There is a student handout included that has the slide number and problems on it so students can work the problems out along with the PowerPoint presentation. The handout is one-page front and back. These same problems are also in the fold-out graphic organizer.

    Graphic Organizer:

Electron configuration and orbital diagrams can be very difficult for students. You can choose between using the foldables, worksheets or digital fillable worksheet pdfs. Both sets present the main components with practice problems. All four quantum numbers, orbital shapes, number of orbitals, electron fill diagram, electron configuration, noble gas configuration, and orbital diagrams. The Auf Bau principle, Pauli Exclusion principle, and Hund's rule are also covered.

There are two student forms. One is blank for students to fill out on their own or as a WebQuest or along with the PowerPoint if you purchased that as well. The second version is a fill-in-the-blank style for students with an IEP, handwriting challenges, or if your class is facing some time constraints. Both foldables cover all the material and there are two teacher key styles included. The digital fillable pdf is also included in both a blank student set and a modified set.

    Teacher keys included.

Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms. Examples of properties that could be predicted from patterns could include reactivity of metals, types of bonds formed, numbers of bonds formed, and reactions with oxygen. Assessment is limited to main group elements. Assessment does not include quantitative understanding of ionization energy beyond relative trends.
