Election Day Voting Activities (U.S. Presidential Election)

Your students will enjoy this fun elections and voting packet! Students will get an introduction to U.S. presidential elections and voting, take a class vote, and complete voting themed math activities. This resource can be used year after year as it does not reference specific candidates.

This resource includes 4 files:

1) Smart Board Activity - PowerPoint Slides (11 pages) – These pages can be projected on your smart board and read to your students to introduce them to U.S. presidential elections and voting. Please note this is a non-editable PowerPoint file (each slide contains one jpeg).

2) Voting Activities/Worksheets - PDF (15 pages)

• Class Voting Ballots: Students vote for their favorite - cake vs. ice cream OR summer vs. winter (2 pages)
• I Voted Wristbands to Wear - available in color & black and white (2 pages)
• Count the Votes - Students count votes and determine which animal/food received the most (2 pages)
• Color by Number (Differentiated): Option 1- number recognition OR Option 2- addition within 10 (2 pages + 2 differentiated pages)
• Around the Room Activity (Differentiated): Option 1- ten frames OR Option 2- subtraction within 10. Students hunt around the classroom for voting themed pictures and record the answer to the problems on their activity sheet (3 pages + 2 differentiated pages).

3) Class Vote Recording Charts - PowerPoint Slides (2 pages): These pages can be used on your smart board to record the results from the class vote (cake vs. ice cream and summer vs. winter).

4) I Voted Stickers - requires Avery address labels 5160/8160: Print the images on Avery labels (size 1” X 2 5/8”, 30 labels per sheet); these can be handed out to students to wear after they complete the class voting activity. Available in both color & black and white. (2 pages)
