Description

Ekphrastic poetry is a poem inspired by visual works of art. Art forms can range from paintings, sculptures, photography, etc.

Children who especially get “stuck” when trying to come up with an idea for writing especially love this poetic style.

Poetry is a form of descriptive writing that children enjoy and offer an engaging change-of-pace. Units like these fit perfectly at times when schedules are busy, but you still want to add quality education to your lesson plans.

This mini-course is part of a full-blown course we offer hundreds of students. It's a favorite for many and works beautifully as part of a thematic unit on art history, famous artists, or poetry in general.
