Teaching Effective Research Skills - Digital Resource Bundle for Google Drive

The ability to navigate and evaluate digital resources is an essential skill for both educators and students. This Common Core aligned teaching effective research skills bundle and student activities are appropriate for upper elementary and all secondary levels, including middle grades and high school.

This resource includes an introductory interactive slide presentation with 30 slides focusing on conducting effective keyword searches, providing tips on how to utilize specific search terms in order to access the best results, and tips on how to evaluate digital resources through a list of specific checkpoints and indicators located within the digital text.

The packet also includes editable and printable worksheets for an online student activity evaluating websites. Implementation is easy with a project site created with Google Sites featuring links to 12 online websites for your students to apply their knowledge through review, analysis, and evaluation.

Differentiated handouts are included to ensure learning success with your students who have differing ability levels.

This teaching packet provides teachers with the tools needed to ensure students can locate reliable sources, make informed choices when accessing and selecting online resources in their research, and activities for students to gain the skills needed in order to reach an understanding of their research through the process of accessing, selecting, and synthesizing quality information.

The set of 20 Digital Task Cards provide additional opportunities for students to use CARS for resource evaluation. CARS = Credibility, Accuracy, Reasonableness, and Support.

The CARS: Source Evaluation Task Cards provide a structured method for students to examine the resource through each measured area.

    Is the source credible?

Is the information provided on the site accurate?

Do you find the text and content to be reasonable? Is there evidence of supporting documentation?

A list of faux sites is included as an option for teachers to use with the CARS digital task cards.

Buy the bundle and save over $2.00 versus separate purchasing!
