Teacher Tips:
Each essay is written by a “student” from a foreign country. The essays each have 10 errors that the students are instructed to edit using the editing symbols found on the anchor charts & handouts. Feel free to use any editing strategies you have worked on in your classroom. The worksheets do not specify there are exactly 10 errors. You can decide whether or not to tell that to your students. If you do, you can use the included checklist to assist them.
The 10 errors include one from each of the categories shown on the next page. This is to ensure many skills are being assessed.
Each essay is full of cultural learning, so your students will discover the world while practicing essential ELA skills. One fun idea is to give each student a different page and have everyone share something they learned from the writing!
There is so much you can do with this resource; the possibilities are endless! Have fun being world explorers while diving into key ELA skills!
