If you’re new to creating course expectations, not to worry! We have provided all the details we use in our own classrooms, so feel free to use our policies and know that they do work! If you’ve got your policies already set or are required to use department or school-wide policies, this resource is easy to edit and modify to suit your needs.

While designed with the middle or high school ELA classroom in mind, it can be easily adapted to the social sciences or foreign language.

Why Include a Scavenger Hunt?

Rather than stand at the front of the room and read over this document, we have our students complete an easy fill-in-the-blank scavenger hunt activity that highlights the most important and timely information on the document. We’ve included it here for you to use as well. It’s based on our template, but with a few clicks can be modified to suit your needs. 

Additional Notes About Editing the Infographic Syllabus Resource

Designed to be edited in PowerPoint, the only outside resource you need is this free font: Flyover (link also included in file). As mentioned, we included a "Helpful Hints" section in the document that covers anything we think could be potential sticking points as you edit the file. We are here to help if an issue arises, so don't hesitate to reach out.

If you choose not to use the Flyover font, you could edit the resource in Google Slides, substituting a Google Apps compatible font, but the resource has not been designed specifically for the Google platform.

Just in case . . . 

We know teachers wear many hats, but also understand graphic design is not for everyone. This resource should be easy to edit; we do suggest some familiarity with using textboxes, graphics, and grouping objects. But . . . we don't want you to get frustrated!
