Area, Perimeter & Volume Scavenger Hunt - Differentiated Challenge Cards

Use this set of 32 challenge / scavenger hunt cards to reinforce your teaching of area, perimeter and volume as well as to test your students' knowledge. These are fantastic as an opening or finishing activity on your unit. Use as prior knowledge, assessment or as a way to practise and test mastery of area, perimeter and volume.

Concepts needed to be prior taught:

• Area and perimeter of rectangles and squares
• Area and perimeter of triangles
• Area and perimeter of parallelograms
• Area and perimeter of irregular shapes
• Volume of regular and irregular shapes
• Exposure to worded problems involving area and perimeter
• Finding unknown values to calculate area and perimeter

Differentiated to allow for stretch and support!

Star System

• Each task card has a different amount of stars featured on it. The minimum amount of stars is one, going up to a challenging multi-step problem with 4 stars.
• As students work through the tasks they can pick problems that are at a level of difficulty they feel they are at. They can also choose to challenge themselves with 'more stars' or adjust to a similar/lower amount to manage the task difficulty and their ability level.
• These challenge cards take students through a learning journey: they ensure fluency and build on ability to apply concepts to a range of reasoning and problem-solving activities.
• This system provides challenge for those working towards, or at, mastery, and for those children working at greater depth.

• 32 differentiated challenge cards with a levelled 'star' system to allow for stretch and mastery of fundamental skills.
• Both options include an answer key and a student recording sheet
