Description

Does jump starting your Edgar Allan Poe unit have you stumped? Do you want to use a fun and familiar platform to excite kids and meet them at their level? I GOT YOU! Use this pre-reading, digital resource activity to ignite student engagement when studying the works of Edgar Allan Poe in your classroom!

This Google Slides activity is designed as an introductory, supplemental digital resource to prepare students for studying Poe. 20 vetted links to informational websites are hyperlinked to pictures for students to independently access introductory information about Poe and his body of work. Students are asked to answer questions and complete a graphic organizer in response to what they learn from the resources.

This resource is a NO PREP way to help upper grade students develop a love and appreciation for Poe while building background knowledge, researching, strengthening close reading/listening skills and building their writing skills.

Students benefit when supplemental material is vetted and available prior to the unit of study, and when they are allowed to safely explore and develop questions and interests. By allowing exploration of informational sources, it creates an opportunity for deeper understanding and comprehension later in directed study.

The entire resource is available in the preview - CHECK IT OUT!
